Welcome to Liu lab at UNO

Liu lab is interested in understanding the mechanisms by which cells sense and respond to changes in their internal and external environment, with emphasis on nutrient-sensing pathways and acetic acid stress responses. We use the budding yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, as the model organism to study the regulation of signaling pathways. We are also interested in understanding the roles of casein kinase I protein Hrr25 in different cellular processes. We employ a variety of tools, including the awesome power of yeast genetics, fluorescence microscopy, and cellular and molecular techniques, to uncover novel regulatory factors and the mechanisms by which those factors participate in different cell signaling pathways.
